Dana Hills picks up 11th straight win at home

The Dana Hills Dolphins had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.7 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Wednesday. They walked away with an 82-75 victory over El Toro. Given Dana Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while El Toro is ranked 555th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dana Hills was led to victory by Logan Scodeller and Collin Haugh. Scodeller scored 23 points along with six assists and two steals, while Haugh scored 40 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Scodeller has scored all season. Nikolis Grguric was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with ten rebounds and three steals.

El Toro's loss came despite strong showings from Christian Jimenez and Lydo Smith. Jimenez dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Smith scored 21 points. Jimenez is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Bass, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.

Dana Hills pushed their record up to 18-4 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.1 points per game. As for El Toro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dana Hills will square off against Aliso Niguel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for El Toro, they will head out on the road to challenge Mission Viejo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission Viejo is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
