Baseball Game Preview: Pecos Eagles vs. Andrews Mustangs

Pecos is 2-8 against Andrews since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pecos will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Friday, then bounced right back against Monahans on Monday. The Eagles walked away with an 11-7 win over the Loboes. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Loboes: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, Andrews had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Rangers.

Trace Garica spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, Andrews saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daylon Jefcoats, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Andrews' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-10. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pecos, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.

Pecos couldn't quite finish off Andrews in their previous meeting two weeks ago and fell 8-6. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
