Softball Recap: Adrian Wins Going Away Against Midway

Adrian had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Midway on Thursday. The Blackhawks put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 18-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Blackhawks, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Berkleigh Pierce made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. Pierce was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Lizzie Clifton was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Addy Mizell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Adrian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matchups.

Adrian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Midway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.

Looking ahead, Adrian will be playing at home against Lamar at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Midway, they are taking a road trip to square off against Santa Fe at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings are facing the Chiefs at the right time seeing as the Chiefs are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
