Basketball Recap: Tolleson Drops Highest Score of Season Against San Luis

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tolleson). They breezed by the San Luis Sidewinders to the tune of 80-26 on Friday. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Sidewinders are ranked 335th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tolleson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rico Blassingame, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Blassingame a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was Nuul Deng, who went 8 of 12 en route to 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Tolleson was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Tolleson now has a winning record of 9-8. As for San Luis, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-13.

Tolleson will venture away from home to square off against Apollo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tolleson is facing Apollo at the right time seeing as Apollo is stuck on a three-game losing streak. San Luis has already played their next match (against San Pasqual Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
