Baseball Recap: Cibola Takes a Loss

After soaring to ten runs the game before, Cibola was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They fell just short of the Volcano Vista Hawks by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by just one run.

Austin Zapach was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cibola saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Hutchinson, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Cibola has also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-11 record this season. As for Volcano Vista, their record is now 15-11.

As of now, neither Cibola nor the Hawks have any future games scheduled.
