Preview: Emmanuel Christian Warriors vs. Ottawa Hills Green Bears
Emmanuel Christian and Ottawa Hills are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Emmanuel Christian Warriors are on the road again on Friday and plays the Ottawa Hills Green Bears at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Emmanuel Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Ottawa Hills likes a good challenge.
Liberty Center typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Emmanuel Christian proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 55-47 win over the Tigers. Given Emmanuel Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Liberty Center is ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Emmanuel Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nate Miles led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. Miles is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Brown, who scored 21 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Ottawa Hills came up short against Eastwood on Tuesday and fell 45-35. Ottawa Hills has struggled against Eastwood recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Emmanuel Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season. As for Ottawa Hills, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Emmanuel Christian strolled past Ottawa Hills in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 61-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Emmanuel Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
