Basketball Recap: Capitan Tigers vs. Estancia Bears
Capitan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 66-53 to the Estancia Bears. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 53-47 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Leading Estancia to victory were Daniel Hernandez and Justin Rubio. Hernandez dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds, while Rubio dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. Hernandez continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcos Lucero, who posted eight points.
Capitan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Estancia, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Capitan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 111-38 loss against Fort Sumner/House on the 12th. As for Estancia, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-47 win against Laguna Acoma on the 12th.
