Lincoln East has gone 9-1 against Lincoln North Star recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Lincoln East is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Skutt Catholic, who was ranked fourth at the time (Lincoln East was ranked first). The Spartans put the hurt on the SkyHawks with a sharp 10-4 win on Tuesday. Considering the Spartans have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Joey Senstock was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Carter McPeak was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Troy Peltz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Lincoln East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Skutt Catholic only posted a batting average of .286.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Lincoln North Star's offense. They lost 9-0 to Grand Island on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Lincoln East has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. As for Lincoln North Star, they dropped their record down to 10-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Lincoln East was able to grind out a solid win over Lincoln North Star when the teams last played on Friday, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
