Softball Recap: Hayden's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Hayden had lost five games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 12-14 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over the Superior Panthers. Surprisingly, this marked the Lobos' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Hayden got a massive performance out of Sienna Gonzales, who went 3-for-5 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs. Gonzales has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Mianah Bravo was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Hayden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive games.

As for Superior, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 17-7. Their loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

On Superior's side, they saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lessenia Ramirez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another was Stephanie Lopez, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Hayden will venture away from home to square off against San Manuel at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Miners have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.71 runs per game on average), something the Lobos will no doubt try to take advantage of. Superior does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
