Softball Game Preview: Riverside Rams vs. Lakeside Eagles

The Riverside Rams will head out on the road to square off against the Lakeside Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Riverside will be strutting in after a victory while Lakeside will be coming in after a defeat.

On Saturday, Riverside beat Tenino 9-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.

Makenna Distad made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Distad was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Chloe Nelson was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Izzy Cotner was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Riverside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Lakeside suffered their biggest loss since May 3, 2025 on Monday. They lost 12-1 to Deer Park. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Riverside's record now sits at 4-6-1. As for Lakeside, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Riverside might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Lakeside in their previous matchup on Friday. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
