Football Recap: Rehan Mumtaz Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Washington

Piedmont won the last time they faced Washington and things went their way on Friday too. The Highlanders secured a 39-35 W over the Huskies. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Highlanders.

Piedmont got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rehan Mumtaz out in front who rushed for 162 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries. The dominant performance also gave Mumtaz a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Xavier Henderson was another key rusher, gaining 136 total yards and two touchdowns.

The win got Piedmont back to even at 4-4. As for Washington, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 4-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Piedmont will face off against Kennedy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Highlanders will be up against the Titans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.38 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Washington, they will take on Newark Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
