Baseball Recap: DeSoto Central Comes Up Short

If DeSoto Central was riding high fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Southaven last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jaguars fell just short of the Marion Patriots by a score of 5-4 on Monday. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2020.

DeSoto Central's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Marion, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

DeSoto Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Tupelo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Wave have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Marion, they have already played their next match, a 12-2 victory against Paragould on the 15th.
