Softball Recap: Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour Extends Road Winning Streak to Seven

Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour won against Dryden last Wednesday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Storm's pitcher stepped up to hand the Whitney Point Eagles a 15-0 shutout. The Storm might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Paige Ells made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Brianna Hatch was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Amy Field was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .541 or higher in six consecutive matches.

Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.9 runs over those games. As for Whitney Point, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.
