Baseball Recap: Notre Dame Triumphs

While Notre Dame's win against East Lyme wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Green Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Vikings on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Green Knights also won the last time the pair played back in June of 2016.

Gehrig Footit tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Notre Dame is 6-1 when Footit allows one or fewer earned runs, but 5-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jackson Burr was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of John Paul Malafronte, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Notre Dame's win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for East Lyme, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 14-7.

As of now, neither Notre Dame nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
