Softball Recap: Benton Central Takes a Loss

Benton Central lost against Tri-County back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Bison lost 9-1 to the Cavaliers.

Annie Lank spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Benton Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Tri-County, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Benton Central will face off against North Newton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so the Bison's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Tri-County, they will host Clinton Prairie at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Gophers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cavaliers surely won't give up without a fight.
