The Gregori Jaguars will square off against the Hughson Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gregori is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.
Gregori took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Modesto as they made off with an 18-9 victory. Considering the Jaguars have won seven matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Arabella Port was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Angelina Hoffman was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. NeVaeh Scheper was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two triples, three runs, and three RBI.
Gregori kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Hughson's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Hilmar by a score of 3-2.
Hughson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allison Moring, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Gregori's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hughson, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7-1.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Gregori hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .415. However, it's not like Hughson struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Gregori was able to grind out a solid win over Hughson in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, winning 4-1. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
