Baseball Recap: Hico Takes a Loss

If Hico was feeling good fresh off their 13-3 takedown of Avalon last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hico Tigers lost 10-3 to the Rio Vista Eagles on Tuesday. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in March of 2021.

Hico saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Jackson, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jackson has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another was Tyler Rainwater, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Hico's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-5-1. As for Rio Vista, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Looking ahead, Hico will venture away from home to take on Gordon at 4:30 p.m. on March 25th. As for Rio Vista, they will host Whitney at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. Whitney's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Rio Vista's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
