Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Regional Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

St. Joseph Regional had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the St. Peter's Prep Marauders. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Green Knights also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Logan Jarer tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Myles Gomez was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was his first of the season. Lorenzo Zeccardi was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

St. Joseph Regional pushed their record up to 19-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Peter's Prep, they moved to 13-6 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, St. Joseph Regional will be playing in front of their home fans against Bergen Catholic at 4:15 p.m. on the 12th. As for St. Peter's Prep, they will head out on the road to square off against Hudson Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Marauders are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
