Soccer Game Preview: Cienega vs. Sierra Linda

The Cienega Bobcats will head out on the road to square off against the Sierra Linda Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sierra Linda took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Cienega, who comes in off a win.

Cienega is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They skirted past Maricopa 1-0. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Rams are ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Sierra Linda fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Shadow Ridge on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Stallions who were credited with the victory. Shadow Ridge got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Sierra Linda's three.

Cienega is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those eight matchups. As for Sierra Linda, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.
