Basketball Recap: Golden Demons vs. Columbine Rebels

On Monday, the Golden Demons were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 58-52 to the Columbine Rebels. While the Demons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rebels 10-6 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Golden still got an impressive performance from Leif Hansen, who went 8 for 15 en route to 18 points and six rebounds. Golden has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Columbine, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-7.

Golden and Columbine should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. Golden (ranked 125th) will meet Littleton (ranked 272nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Similarly, Columbine will challenge Lakewood at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday up 169 places (79 vs. 248).
