The Cedarcrest Red Wolves are taking a road trip to challenge the Selah Vikings at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Cedarcrest 2.7, Selah 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
If Cedarcrest beats Selah with nine runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Red Wolves put the hurt on Sultan with a sharp 9-1 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Red Wolves, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Cedarcrest got a great performance from Colt Norris as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 6.2 innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Norris a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Luke Thompson and Carter Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Thompson went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Smith went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Thompson has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Murphy Vliem, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one stolen base.
Cedarcrest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Selah came tearing into last Tuesday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 4-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Selah's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cedarcrest, their record is now 20-6.
Cedarcrest might still be hurting after the 14-3 loss they got from Selah when the teams last played back in May of 2016. Can the Red Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
