Softball Recap: Mora Beats Mccurdy for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Mora had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 13-12 W against the McCurdy Bobcats. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 7-5 win last Tuesday.

Justina Duran made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up seven earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. She has been hot recently, having also posted three or more RBI the last four times she's played.

In other batting news, Jasmine Romero was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jazzlyn Duran, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Mora's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for McCurdy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Mora will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bobcats: the pair will be back at it again later today.
