Baseball Recap: Sewickley Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Monessen

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sewickley Academy). Everything went their way against the Monessen Greyhounds on Wednesday as they made off with a 15-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Sewickley Academy considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Austin Fritz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Fritz was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Billy Pietragallo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (four). Nolan Donnelly was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.

Sewickley Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sewickley Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Monessen, their loss was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Sewickley Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-11 defeat against Freedom Area on the 10th. As for Monessen, they will take on Washington at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Greyhounds are facing the Prexies at the right time seeing as the Prexies are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
