Preview: Hiawatha Hawks vs. Alden-Hebron Green Giants
Hiawatha and Alden-Hebron are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Hiawatha Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Alden-Hebron Green Giants at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hiawatha is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 17-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Hiawatha pushed their score all the way to 59 last Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of DePue.
Meanwhile, Alden-Hebron didn't have too much trouble with Trinity Oaks Christian Academy on the road on Tuesday as they won 50-31.
Hiawatha has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-19 record this season. As for Alden-Hebron, their win bumped their record up to 7-17.
Hiawatha was able to grind out a solid victory over Alden-Hebron in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 53-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hiawatha since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
