South Garner and Fuquay - Varina are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The South Garner Titans will take on the Fuquay - Varina Bengals at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. South Garner knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Fuquay - Varina likes a good challenge.

South Garner took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Rams are ranked 234th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Fuquay - Varina was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 41-36 heartbreaker at the hands of Corinth Holders.

South Garner will have to keep a close watch on Abigail Meaney and Taylor Edwards, a pair of players who had a big impact on Fuquay - Varina's prior game. Meaney posted 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals, while Edwards earned 11 points. Those 17 points gave Meaney a new career-high.

South Garner has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points over those games. As for Fuquay - Varina, their loss dropped their record down to 5-18.

Everything came up roses for South Garner against Fuquay - Varina in their previous meeting on Wednesday, as the team secured a 69-28 win. In that contest, South Garner amassed a halftime lead of 43-20, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
