Nation's longest high school football winning streaks: Clairton reaches 49

The Clairton (Pa.) Bears continue to growl loudly, routing Carlynton (Carnegie, Pa.) 50-7 on Friday night to extend their national-leading winning streak to 49 games.

Senior running back Tyler Boyd (6-foot-1, 175 pounds) led the Bears with five touchdowns. He scored on runs of 56, 13, 10 and 8 yards, plus a 55-yard punt return.

* Hornell (N.Y.) took over the runner-up slot by beating Wellsville (N.Y.) 40-6 for its 41st consecutive victory. Senior Richie Harkenrider completed 7 of 9 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for a touchdown. Brendan Buisch caught three passes for 133 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

* Waunakee (Wis.) won its 39th-straight game - and its 88th straight at home - by beating Oregon (Wis.) 63-7. Senior Tyler Reynolds ran for 110 yards and five touchdowns on just 12 carries.

* Truckee (Calif.) took advantage of turnovers and rolled past Dayton (Nev.) 51-14 to extend its winning streak to 38 games.



* Webb City (Mo.) won its 33rd-straight game, 67-20 over Carthage (Mo.). It also marked the 84th-straight regular-season win for the Cardinals, who played in mud following rain and a one-hour lightning delay.

* Winning their 31st-straight games were Regina (Iowa City, Iowa), which edged West Branch (Iowa) 15-13; Martinsburg (W. Va.), which routed Handley (Winchester, Va.) 63-7; Boylan (Rockford, Ill.), which blanked Guilford (Rockford, Ill.) 32-0; and Ithaca (Mich.), which rolled past Valley Lutheran (Saginaw, Mich.) 55-0.
