Softball Preview: Prout Crusaders vs. East Providence Townies        
        
		
            
 The Prout Crusaders will head out on the road to  face off against  the East Providence Townies at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.
 Prout is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another  one of Rhode Island's top teams: Chariho, who was ranked 19th in their home state at the time (Prout was ranked tenth). Prout fell just short of Chariho by a score of  2-1 on Monday.
  Lucy Kaiser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned  (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in four consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate, Prout saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Mia Boyajian, who  went 1-for-3 with a  double.
 East Providence lost  15-1 to La Salle Academy on Tuesday.
  Trinity Provencher made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 1-for-2 with a  home run.
 Prout's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for East Providence, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.
 East Providence's hitters will have their work cut out for them  on Thursday. Prout has been retiring batters left and right this season,  having  averaged 7.7  strikeouts per game. It's a different story for East Providence, though, as  they've been averaging  only 3.5. Will Prout keep running through batters, or will East Providence buck the trend?
 Prout beat East Providence 8-5  in their previous matchup  back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for Prout since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
