4A Region 5 Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances in games played on Thursday and Friday (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Javion Kinnard's Big Game Leads Pearl-Cohn over Whites Creek

Starting off the list is Pearl-Cohn's Javion Kinnard, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Kinnard rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also picked up 85 receiving yards and a touchdown.

If the past is any indication, Kinnard could be in store for another big game when he takes on Greenbrier on Friday. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Kinnard saw the Bobcats), he rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 90 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Kelton Crisp Delivers Best Performance of Season

On Friday, Station Camp got the W thanks in part to Kelton Crisp playing the best football he has all season. Crisp wasn't messing around, picking up a sack, forcing a fumble, and making 11 total tackles (5.0 for loss). The matchup was his seventh straight with five or more total tackles dating back to last season.

Station Camp's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5. Crisp and Station Camp will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Creek Wood on October 18th.

Marshall County Wins Seventh-Straight Thanks to Tyler Thompson

Tyler Thompson was instrumental in extending Marshall County's winning streak to seven on Friday. Creek Wood had no answer to Thompson as he threw for 224 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Thompson is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: he's passed for at least three every time he's taken the field this season.

Marshall County's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Thompson and Marshall County will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Montgomery Central at 7:00 p.m.

Station Camp Gets a Boost from Overbey in 38-8 Win

The second Station Camp player making an appearance here is Colton Overbey, and for good reason. He threw for 244 yards and two touchdowns while completing 81% of his passes, and also rushed for 42 yards.

For the season, Overbey has thrown 9 touchdowns while averaging 223.4 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 0.86 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 34.86 rushing yards.

William Miranda Turns in Season-Best Effort

Sadly, William Miranda posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Montgomery Central over Fairview on Friday. Miranda rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.

Montgomery Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. Miranda and Montgomery Central will stay at home for another week and welcome Marshall County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
