Baseball Recap: Lutheran's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Lutheran barely beat Lewis-Palmer the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions blew past the Rangers 7-1 on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Lions, who have now won three games in a row.

Payden Joyce spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Anthony Misch, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

Lutheran pushed their record up to 13-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lewis-Palmer, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 17-4.

Lutheran will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rangers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
