Between 2001 and 2011, LaDainian Tomlinson piled up 13,684 rushing yards and 145 touchdowns, numbers that will put him on the fast track to a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

The Charger and Jet great retired in June, bringing a close to a gridiron career that was jumpstarted at University (Waco, Texas) before developing into a first round draft pick at Texas Christian University.

This week's Way Back When looks back at Tomlinson's roots at University High School.
