Soccer Game Preview: Waccamaw vs. North Myrtle Beach

The Waccamaw Warriors are taking a road trip to face off against the North Myrtle Beach Chiefs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Waccamaw is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They never let Marlboro County get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Wednesday. It was an even better day for Charlie Withington as he scored five goals for his team.

Something new happened on Wednesday as Withington saw his first action of the season, playing 20 minutes against Marlboro County. Withington made the most of the opportunity, scoring five goals A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, everything went North Myrtle Beach's way against Loris on Tuesday as North Myrtle Beach made off with a 5-0 win. The Chiefs haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The win was the fourth in a row for Waccamaw, bringing their record for this year to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those four matches. As for North Myrtle Beach, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Everything went Waccamaw's way against North Myrtle Beach in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, as Waccamaw made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waccamaw since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
