Baseball Recap: Jay County Has No Trouble Against Southern Wells

Jay County barely beat Southern Wells the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Patriots put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 10-4 win on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Patriots also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Andrew Schemenaur was incredible, going 2-for-3 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin Byrum, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs.

The victory made it two in a row for Jay County and bumps their season record up to 8-10. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Southern Wells, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Jay County will challenge rival Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Southern Wells is set to square off against their familiar foe Woodlan at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
