Basketball Recap: Lewiston Piles Up the Points Against Dorchester

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lewiston). They blew past the Dorchester Longhorns 74-41 on Thursday. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.

Lewiston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brock Janssen led the charge by going 9 of 15 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. Janssen has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Weyers, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 20 points along with five assists and three steals.

Lewiston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Dorchester saw an underclassman step up: freshman Thor Nerud went 6 of 13 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nerud has scored all season.

Lewiston's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Dorchester, their defeat was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Lewiston didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-46 loss against Red Cloud on the 4th. As for Dorchester, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Heartland Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
