Preview: Oxbow Olympians vs. Williamstown Blue Devils
Oxbow is 0-8 against Williamstown since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Oxbow Olympians will head out on the road to face off against the Williamstown Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Oxbow was handed a three-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Northfield on Wednesday. Everything went Oxbow's way against Northfield as Oxbow made off with a 61-35 win. The win was some much needed relief for Oxbow as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Meanwhile, even though Richford scored an imposing 56 points on Wednesday, Williamstown still came out on top. Williamstown pulled ahead with a 57-56 photo finish over Richford.
Evan Bailey was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with six rebounds and five assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Williamstown's points. Nick Mascitti was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Oxbow's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11. As for Williamstown, they pushed their record up to 10-6 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Oxbow was taken down by Williamstown 69-37 in their previous matchup back in February of 2021. Can Oxbow avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
