Football Recap: Port Gibson Takes a Loss

Port Gibson extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-3. They came up short against the Hazlehurst Indians, falling 44-20. The Blue Waves lost against the Indians in their previous head to head back in September of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 49-0 score last time.

As for Hazlehurst, their win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-2. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Hazlehurst found their leader in sophomore Brandon Haines, who rushed for 200 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries.

Coincidentally, Port Gibson and Hazlehurst will both be playing Franklin County the next time they take the field. The Blue Waves will host the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Indians will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
