Basketball Game Preview: Booker T. Washington Wildcats vs. Escambia Gators

The Booker T. Washington Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Escambia Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Booker T. Washington has four straight wins, Escambia has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

It was a proper cat-fight when Booker T. Washington challenged West Florida on Tuesday. Booker T. Washington strolled past West Florida with points to spare, taking the game 60-44. 60 seems to be a good number for the Wildcats as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Escambia opened the new year with a less-than-successful 42-34 loss to Pine Forest.

Booker T. Washington's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Escambia, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Booker T. Washington took their victory against Escambia when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 68-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Booker T. Washington since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
