Softball Recap: Goreville Comes Up Short

Goreville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Johnston City Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 last Tuesday.

Ellie Tripp made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Goreville's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Johnston City, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-6.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Goreville is set to face off against their familiar foe Trico at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Johnston City will square off against rival Vienna at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
