Baseball Recap: Horizon's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Horizon came into Monday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Denver North Vikings a 9-0 shutout on Monday. The Hawks not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6, 2024.

Parker Aaron was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Aaron was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with four RBI and one stolen base. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Cooper Brennan was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run and three runs. He has become a key player for Horizon: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-6 otherwise. Maxton Sosa was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Horizon's victory bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Denver North, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Horizon will face off against Skyline at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Denver North, they will square off against Montbello at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of.
