Softball Game Preview: Patterson Tigers vs. East Union Lancers

The Patterson Tigers will challenge the East Union Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Patterson fell victim to Mountain House and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Mustangs, falling 6-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, East Union lost 17-5 to Manteca on Tuesday. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

East Union saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Pickering, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Pickering has posted since back in March of 2024.

Patterson's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-7. As for East Union, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Patterson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. However, it's not like East Union struggles in that department as they've averaged .321. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Patterson suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to East Union when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Patterson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
