Mt. Carmel faced Slidell in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Cubs were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Tigers. The win continues a trend for the Cubs in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won seven in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-21.

Emma Palermo was the offensive standout of the match as she had 13 digs and two aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in October of 2024.

Slidell's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Payton Rowbatham, who had nine digs. Ella Kate Spilling was another key player, getting 11 digs.

Mt. Carmel's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Slidell, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Mt. Carmel didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Blessed Trinity on the 5th. As for Slidell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Liberty Magnet on the 5th.
