Preview: Morrill Lions vs. Hyannis Longhorns
Morrill has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Hyannis Longhorns at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Morrill posted their biggest victory since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past Sioux County 47-25. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Morrill has posted against Sioux County since January 30, 2021.
Pittman Ashwin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a triple-double on 17 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists. That's the first time this season that he posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyler Fisher, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Hyannis entered their tilt with Edgemont with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Hyannis was the clear victor by a 58-32 margin over Edgemont. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-18.
Morrill has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Hyannis, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1.
Morrill came up short against Hyannis in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 50-45. Can Morrill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
