Softball Recap: Rowan County's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to 13

Rowan County and Greenup County pushed the score to 11-8 the last time they played Greenup County, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Vikings sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Musketeers. The Vikings are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 13 straight.

Kassi Perkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lauryn Eastham, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Rowan County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive contests.

Rowan County pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Greenup County, the loss snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 14-2 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rowan County will face off against Mason County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Greenup County, they will square off against Lawrence County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
