Softball Recap: Osawatomie Comes Up Short

Osawatomie had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-13 to make it five. They lost 15-2 to the Prairie View Buffalos. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buffalos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 on Tuesday.

Kaylee Johns was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Prairie View, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Prairie View's side, Bella Stolle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Stolle has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 12 games.

In other batting news, Rian Stainbrook and Charly Gregg did most of the damage at the plate: Stainbrook went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles, while Gregg went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Stainbrook has posted over her last 12 matches. Chylar Jones also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Osawatomie didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-4 victory against Humboldt on the 8th. As for Prairie View, they are taking a road trip to face off against Wellsville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
