Softball Game Preview: Jamestown Eagles vs. Poquoson Islanders

The Jamestown Eagles will head out to face off against the Poquoson Islanders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Jamestown's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four games, but Friday's match will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Tuesday, Jamestown came up short against Tabb and fell 4-1.

Jamestown saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Hughes, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Grafton hit Poquoson with a four-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Islanders came up short against the Clippers, falling 11-4. It was the first time this season that the Islanders let down their fans at home.

Layla Wheeler made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Peyton Duval also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 10-2. As for Jamestown, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Jamestown has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .441. However, it's not like Poquoson struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Jamestown might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Poquoson in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
