Softball Recap: Hooks Drops Highest Score of Season Against New Boston

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hooks). Everything went their way against the New Boston Lions on Friday as they made off with a 25-1 victory. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Zoey Greenwood, who fired off two home runs, nine RBI, and five runs while going 5-for-5. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Anna Beth Black was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Hooks pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.2 runs over those games. As for New Boston, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14-1 record this season.

Hooks will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Redwater at 6:00 p.m. As for New Boston, they will head out on the road to challenge Liberty-Eylau at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions are facing the Leopards at the right time seeing as the Leopards are stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
