Volleyball Recap: Cumberland Beavers vs. Chetek-Weyerhaeuser Bulldogs

Cumberland was the 2-0 winner over Chetek-Weyerhaeuser when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Cumberland Beavers fell just short of the Chetek-Weyerhaeuser Bulldogs by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. While the Beavers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 25-15 in the first set.

Cumberland took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 15-25, 25-17, 24-26, 25-16, 15-12.

Even though they lost, Cumberland was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in six consecutive games.

Cumberland has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-18 record this season. As for Chetek-Weyerhaeuser, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-14.

Cumberland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Amery on the 12th. Chetek-Weyerhaeuser has also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Cameron on the 10th.
