Softball Recap: Elk Grove Takes a Loss

Elk Grove's tournament run continued when they took on Capuchino on Saturday. The Thundering Herd fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 4-3.

Ryann Wolfe made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Annabel Focht, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Elk Grove's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Capuchino, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Elk Grove will venture away from home to take on Monterey Trail at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Thundering Herd are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Capuchino, they will take on Calaveras at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Hawks have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
