Football Recap: Sunray Comes Up Short

Sunray extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They received a blow as they fell 38-20 to the Highland Park Hornets. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Zeke Grajeda threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns. Dominik Dominguez was his top target, picking up 95 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

As for Highland Park, their record is now 3-4. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their six-point performance the game before.

It was another big night for Josh Marler, who threw for 265 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes, and also rushed for 54 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (159.2). Morgon Peace helped out on the ground, rushing for 92 yards.

Looking ahead, Sunray will challenge Panhandle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Highland Park, they will square off against Spearman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 950 yards in their previous games.
