League recap: Spain Park tops Stanhope Elmore to extend winning streak

6A Region 4 recap October 22, 2013

Spain Park added to the longest winning streak in 6A Region 4 this week by beating Stanhope Elmore, 34-13. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Jaguars.

Wetumpka took down Thompson 24-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Otis Harris was a beast in the backfield as Spain Park defeated the Mustangs.

Harris provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Shawn Raney's team beat Stanhope Elmore.

Harris was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 233 yards on 32 carries as the Jaguars defeated Jeff Foshee's team. Teammate Wade Streeter added to the ground attack by rushing for 21 yards.

5-foot-11 quarterback Mickey Forrest of Spain Park is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,422. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Eric Reeves. The Thompson star has 49 catches for 483 yards.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Pelham takes on the Jaguars. At the moment, the Panthers are in third, while Spain Park is in first.

Chelsea led 6A Region 4 in scoring this week by notching 55 points on Pelham.
