Basketball Game Preview: Jesuit Crusaders vs. Benson Tech Astros

Jesuit and Benson Tech are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Jesuit Crusaders will take on the Benson Tech Astros in a tournament on Sunday.

Jesuit saw some tournament action on Friday. The game between them and South Medford didn't end well, with Jesuit falling 65-48. The Crusaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite their defeat, Jesuit saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Audrey Bayless, who posted 17 points and six assists, was perhaps the best of all. Those 17 points gave Bayless a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ceanna Forney, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 13 points.

Meanwhile, Benson Tech beat Nelson 56-45 last Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Astros.

Benson Tech's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.9 points per game. As for Jesuit, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Jesuit came up short against Benson Tech in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, falling 56-43. Can Jesuit avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
